Life in the City
Chapter 25: The First Bus Ride
Morning is bright.
The air is cool.
Today, I must go to the book shop.
But it is far.
I cannot walk.
I stand at the bus stop.
A big bus comes.
The doors open.
People go in.
I follow.
Inside, the seats are full.
Some people stand.
The bus moves fast.
The city runs outside the window:
cars, bikes, shops, tall buildings.
I look at the signs.
One says: “Main Street.”
Another says: “River Road.”
I think, I must not miss my stop.
An old woman stands near me.
I say, “Please, sit here.”
I give her my seat.
She smiles, “Thank you.”
Her words are soft.
I feel proud.
After some time,
I see the shop outside.
I pull the bell.
Ding!
The bus stops.
The doors open.
I step down.
The street is busy.
People walk fast.
Cars honk.
The city feels big,
but I feel brave.
I think, I can go anywhere now.
With a bus, the city is mine.
Work, school, friends —
I can reach them all.
