Life in the City
Chapter 28: Winter Flu
Winter comes again.
The air is cold.
The wind is strong.
People wear coats, hats, and scarves.
One morning,
I wake up with a headache.
My throat hurts.
I feel hot.
I cough.
I think, I am sick.
I stay in bed.
She comes with a bag.
“Are you okay?” she asks.
I nod, “A little sick.”
She gives me water and a small medicine.
She says, “Drink this slowly.
Rest well.”
I lie down.
I feel warm from her care.
Later, my mother calls the doctor.
The doctor checks me.
He listens to my chest.
He asks, “Do you have a fever?”
I nod.
He writes some medicine.
“Take this three times a day,” he says.
I take the medicine.
I rest.
I think, Health is important.
Even small sickness can be serious.
I must take care of my body.
She sits near me.
We talk softly.
She tells stories from school.
I laugh a little.
Even sick,
I feel happy because of her care.
That night,
I sleep longer.
The headache is less.
The body is weak,
but the heart is strong.
