Chapter 29: Winter Clothes and New Year

Winter is cold.
The wind is strong.
People wear coats, hats, and scarves.
I look at my old coat.
It is gray and small.
I think, I need a new coat for Tết.

I go to the market.
The market is busy.
There are many shops.
Some sell clothes.
Some sell food.
Some sell toys.

I see a red coat.
It is big and warm.
I try it on.
It fits well.
I smile.
I also see a blue scarf.
It is soft.
I buy it too.

She comes to the market.
She wears a green hat.
She looks happy.
She says, “The red coat is very nice on you.”
I blush a little.
She likes it! I think.

We buy new shoes.
Black shoes for me, yellow shoes for her.
We walk and look at colors:
red, blue, green, yellow, gray, black.

I feel excited.
Tết is coming.
New clothes, new shoes, new year.
I think, I like the colors.
I like the market.
I like this winter day.

We go home with bags.
The city is busy.
But I feel warm inside.
